3 Days Mikumi National park tour from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar

Mikumi National Park is the closest wildlife safari park to the Capital of Dar es Salaam and it is also the closest to Zanzibar Island. We will arrange a ferry transfer to Dar es Salaam as well as after safari to Zanzibar to start this 3 days Mikumi national park tour or a short flight depending on your preferences and budget.

This safari can be done by staying at the budget / middle-class or Standard luxury lodges or tented camps.

It is worthy noting that the distance from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park is a long distance and that the drive can take between 5 hours and 6 hours depending on the traffic first as you leave the city of Dar es Salaam but also on the number of police checks on the way that can take a lot of your time on the way. There are also seemingly too many speed restriction signs on the road with 50 Km Per hour stretches being the most prominent on the route. Speed guns can slow you down on this road.

In this published 3 days safari from Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park, you are scheduled in a very nice midrange lodge like Camp Bastian or stay in the Matembezi Safari Lodge. Both lodges are located within the Mikumi Township just outside the park and at the outskirts of that MikumI township. The lodges come with all the amenities of a nice decent lodge that you may think of and the Camp Bastian Camp come with a swimming pool on site.

Alternatively you may also stay at the budget rest house and bungalows also known as ‘bandas’ at the Tanapa run Mikumi Park Bandas inside the park.

If you want an upgrade you may also stay at the Mikumi Wildlife Camp inside the park or stay at the deluxe camps like VUma Hills Tented Camp or the Stanley Kopjes Camp. Please ask our safari experts for an upgrade.

Day 1 :

Zanzibar to Dar es salaam to Mikumi

Early in the morning the after breakfast, you'll be picked up in your hotel by our representative heading to ferry to cross the water to Dar es Salaam and depart to Mikumi National Park where you will arrive in the late afternoon. you will your lunch the way before arriving and in the evening you visit one of the masai boma for a nice masai experience for 2 hours. After masai boma tour you will go to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp bastian

Day 2 :

Mikumi national park full day tour

Spend a full day with game drives around the Mikumi National Park with a packed lunch or do morning and afternoon game drives with a lunch break at the lodge/tented camp. Mikumi National Park is part of the larger Selous Ecosystem together with the Selous Game Reserve and harbors remarkable numbers of bird’s species and animals.

Among the animals that can be spotted at Mikumi includes giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, impalas, warthogs, zebras, wildebeests, elands and many other antelopes. Apart from game drives in the park you can also go for a guided walking safari guided by an armed ranger.

Overnight at Camp Bastian or Matembezi Safari Lodge at Mikumi located outside the park. Lunch box and dinner included.

Day 3 :

This morning after breakfast check out of the lodge/camp and drive back (with picnic lunch on the way) to Dar es Salaam where the safari ends. You will be dropped back at your hotel or Dar es Salaam Airport if departing back home or to fling to Zanzibar.
On this 3rd day you can do one last game drive in the morning if not in a hurry, at an extra park entry fees of USD 36. If you want us to pay this for you please let us know well in advance because we need to process the payment online on the TANAPA payment portal.
